John McCarthy, MD

Assistant Dean for Rural Programs University of Washington’s School of Medicine

Dr. McCarthy completed his residency in Family Medicine with an emphasis on rural medicine.   He worked for 14 years in Tonasket WA (population 900) performing full spectrum Family Medicine including operative obstetrics and emergency room staffing.  
He currently serves as Assistant Dean for Rural Programs for the University of Washington’s School of Medicine, he is the AHEC director for WWAMI AHEC, and he is the Chief Medical Officer for the NATIVE Project, an Urban Indian health care center in Spokane, Washington.
