Julie Riley

Montana Extension Agent Powder River County; Broadus, MT

Julie Riley is a half-time Montana State University Extension Educator in Powder River County, in Broadus, a small, isolated and rural community in Southeast Montana. She has shared this position with her good friend and co-worker, Mary Rumph, for 27 years. Julie’s responsibilities include Family and Consumer Science, Community Development and 4-H Youth Development. She has worked closely with volunteers to establish a school and community development council, a community endowment fund, recycling center and is currently developing a trail system. Julie has taught Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM), and Mental Health in the Classroom graduate course for teachers, and has promoted THRIVE, a computer-based CBT program. She is taking coursework to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor through Montana State University. When she is not at the office, she assists her husband with his cow-calf operation.
