Robert (Rob) Allen, FACHE

Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Intermountain Healthcare

As Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Rob Allen has accountability for the delivery of care and operations across Intermountain. Rob has more than 25 years of healthcare executive leadership experience. After beginning his career in healthcare administration in Colorado, Rob joined Intermountain at Evanston Regional Hospital in Wyoming, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and then as Administrator from 1988-1999, when Intermountain sold the hospital. Rob continued as CEO there until 2002, and then held CEO positions at hospitals in New Jersey and Massachusetts. In 2007, Rob returned to Intermountain, serving as Operations Officer for the South Region, Vice President of the Rural Region, and Vice President of Clinical and Outreach Services, before his appointment as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in March 2017.

Rob is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He received his MBA from Utah State University and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Management from Brigham Young University. Rob’s passion for healthcare began during his childhood as he was raised on a farm in Star Valley, Wyoming, where his mother served as a nurse at Star Valley Hospital for many years. Rob and his wife, Becky, have three children and three grandchildren. He has actively participated in local community and healthcare organizations and served on boards in each community he has called home.
