Steven S. Akerlow is a Vice President at Morgan Stanley and serves as part of their Community Development Finance team. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2013 to focus on community development lending and community relations throughout Utah and the Western United States. He currently oversees the Utah affordable housing and CDFI portfolio for Morgan Stanley as well as manages the community relationships with clients throughout the Western United States.

Steven has over 20 years of real estate development and sales experience. With a background in both commercial and residential real estate, he has spent the majority of his career focused in the private sector developing sustainable infill and mixed-use communities. Prior to his role at Morgan Stanley, these efforts led him to a position within Salt Lake City Corporation monitoring and underwriting for the City’s Housing Trust Fund and administering the HOME Federal funds allocated to Salt Lake.

Steven holds a BA and an MBA from the University of Utah, is an NDC certified Economic Development Finance Professional and holds a Real Estate Principal Brokers license for the State of Utah. He is the past Chair of the Utah Bankers Association CRA Committee and sits on several committees and boards.
